Core Team:
Our core administrative team all benefit from being white passing. Black representation on our leadership team is vital as the decisions we make directly affect programming, casting and community building. We could, theoretically create a new position on our administrative team that we would aim to fill ASAP with a Black administrator. Candidly, I have to admit this path feels wrong and like a tokenization of all the incredible things administrators of color would bring to our group. Instead we are going to continue to build our community in order to find BIPOC artists/administrators who believe in our mission and enjoy collaborating with us. Due to the start up and collective nature of our organization our current administrative team is made up of artists who began as casual collaborators and stuck around to build space for their artistic peers. We believe continuing expansion of our admin team in this way will ultimately be best for our organization and the artists/administrators who serve and work with us. Additionally, our administrative team works completely on a volunteer basis. We have no desire to exploit Black artists and administrators just for the sake of claiming to be a diverse company. We will continue to readdress and shift our administrative structure on an ongoing basis, as the need for more collaborators evolves and as we continue to build our relationships with more Black administrators. It is our goal that by 2022 50% of our administrative team will be people of color, and the work we do to expand our admin team will focus on centering Black and indigenous voices.
